Accident Investigation

This seminar will provide Employers with information regarding when accident/incident investigations are required and how to conduct these types of investigations. Topics covered include WorkSafeBC law and regulation regarding accident/incident investigations, a practical guide to investigating accident/incidents, and why thorough accident investigations are important. Case studies will be used to emphasize the practical information. This course is ideal for Employers, Managers, Supervisors and members of the Joint OHS Committee who conduct or are involved in accident/incident investigations at the workplace.

Due Diligence for Employers

This seminar will discuss the elements of due diligence. Managers and Supervisors will gain a better understanding of the legislative and regulatory requirements necessary to demonstrate due diligence in their workplace. This seminar may also be of interest to Human Resource and Health & Safety practitioners.

Joint Committee Annual Training

Designed for the members of the employers' Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee. Overview of Part 3 of the Workers Compensation Act with emphasis on a Joint Committee's duties and responsibilities. This seminar would be beneficial for both worker and employer committee representatives.

NOTE: On April 3, 2017, new regulations regarding joint committees will come into effect.Regulation 3.27 contains prescribed training requirements for new committee members or worker representatives selected on or after that date. These training requirements must be completed no later than 6 months after the worker becomes a member or representative. This seminar DOES NOT meet the prescribed requirements. Employers will need to provide additional training for new committee members and worker representatives as per the regulation after April 3, 2017.

OHS Program Requirements

Part 3 of the Workers Compensation Act (Act) and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (OSHR) impose many duties, responsibilities and requirements for all workplace parties. The legislative framework creates both an Internal and External Responsibility System for health and safety in the workplace and these concepts will be introduced and explored. Duties and responsibilities found in the Act and key regulatory requirements in Parts 1-4 OSHR (the Core Requirements) will be discussed in the context of an effective safety program. This seminar is intended for Employers, but will also benefit Human Resource Personnel, Supervisors, Managers, Joint Committee Members, Safety Coordinators and First Aid Attendants with health and safety responsibilities.
