Course FAQs

Do I need to register for an account?

Yes, all seminar participants must have their own online learning account.   Individual online learning accounts will be used for all future course selections.
Only participants who are registered for a seminar will receive a certificate.

Do the EAO’s New Joint Committee Member Training seminars meet WorkSafeBC’s mandatory training requirements?

To satisfy the training requirements committee members must take all of the following:

  • 2-hour online component from WorkSafeBC; and
  • New Joint Committee Member Training – Part 1 (3 hours) offered by the Employer’s Advisers Office, and
  • New Joint Committee Members Training – Part 2 (3 hours) offered by the Employers’ Advisers Office.

Mandatory training can also be delivered by the employer or external training providers. To find training near you, contact the health and safety association for your industry, or local OHS training providers.

What if I still need to complete some of the original Joint Committee training modules? How can I be sure I’ve covered all the required content?

If you haven’t completed all four of the original Joint Health and Safety Committee training modules, you can attend the updated New Joint Committee Member Training Part 1 and Part 2 sessions. These updated seminars include all essential content from the original modules, along with minor improvements to enhance clarity and coverage of key topics. Completing the updated training will ensure you meet the required learning outcomes. Depending on which modules you needed to complete, there may be some overlap in information.

Part 1 includes content from:

  • Rules of Procedure and Meetings
  • Right to Refuse, Consultation, and Making Recommendations

Part 2 includes content from:

  • Inspections and Investigations
  • Committee Evaluation and Assessing Training Needs

Are the New Joint Committee Member Training Part 1 and Part 2 different from the Joint Committee training I completed previously with the EAO? Do I need to retake them?

No, these are not new seminars. The original four Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) training modules have been consolidated into two streamlined seminars. The current JHSC seminars are updated versions with minor improvements to slide content and the Participant Handbook to enhance clarity and add information on select topics. If you completed the previous JHSC modules before September 2025, you do not need to retake the updated seminars.

Do I need to take Part 1 and Part 2 of the New Joint Committee Member Training in order?

No, you do not need to take the seminars in order. While it is recommended to complete Part 1 before Part 2 to support learning progression, it is not required. You may complete the seminars in any order based on your availability and training needs.

How do I access my certificate?

Make sure you are logged into your online learner account. On the top right hand area, click on either “My Courses”, or “My Profile”.  Then, on the left sidebar, click on “My Certifications”.  After a seminar, our staff will have to manually record the attendance, so please be patient.  Once you have been marked as attended, your certificate, and any other certificates from previously taken seminars, will be listed here.  To download or print your certificate, click on the “View” button, then click on the “Wall Certificate” button.  Your certificate will then be downloaded.  You can now save or print your certificate.

Video Instruction

I think I may have lost my virtual seminar certificate, or didn’t receive it.  Can I get a new one?

Yes. Please log into your LMS account to download/print out your certificate.

Do I need to complete the Claim Management – Fundamentals before registering for the Claims Management – Stay at Work/Return to Work?

We recommend completing Claims Management – Fundamentals prior to registering for this seminar.

What is the difference between the Claim Management – Introduction (e-Learning) vs the Claims Management – Fundamentals (in-person)? Do I need to take both courses?

The Claims Management – Introduction (e-Learning course) provides a brief overview of the workers compensation claims process in 90-120 minutes. The Claims Management - Fundamentals (in-person) seminar provides greater information dealing with the fundamentals for managing a worker’s compensation claim (from an employer’s perspective). Participants do not need to take both courses. However, if you seek a more in-depth understanding of the claims management, we recommend you attend the Claims Management – Fundamental (in-person) seminar.
