Virtual Seminar

Prohibited Action Complaints (virtual)

Course by: EAO-BC Seminars

SKU: 11315

Description

A Prohibited Action (PA) occurs when a worker is retaliated against by their employer or union for raising a health and safety concern in the workplace. If a worker believes they are the subject of a PA, they may file a phohibited action complaint (PAC) with WorkSafeBC, which triggers an investigation and resolution process. This seminar offers an overview of PACs, how they are initiated, and what employers must be aware of when preparing a response. We will analyze the different components of a PA and use a case study discussion to examine how the PAC process unfolds.

This seminar is intended for employers, supervisors, HR professionals, and managers who handle PACs.

Topics covered:
  • Legal basis and common workplace situations that may trigger PACs
  • The PAC process, from initial filing through to WorkSafeBC’s decision
  • What WorkSafeBC examines when assessing the complaint
  • The pros and cons of mediation as a potential option to settle a PAC
  • Strategies for adjudication and remedy processes

Note: This is the first delivery of a newly developed seminar. We appreciate and welcome your feedback at the end of the session.
