Prerequisite: Each participant is required to individually complete WorkSafeBC’s 2 hour online e-learning course before attending any EAO New Joint Committee Members virtual seminar.
This seminar series is designed to help employers and new Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) members meet the mandatory 8-hour training requirement outlined in Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 3.27.
Note: These modules are intended for participants who have already completed the WorkSafeBC online e-Learning component.
In September 2025 this course replaces the previous JHSC: Rules of Procedures and Meetings, and the JHSC: Right to Refuse, Consulation and Making Recommendations seminars.

Module 1: New Joint Committee Members Training - Part 1
This session covers:
· The purpose and structure of a joint committee’s rules of procedure
· How to conduct effective meetings and document meeting minutes
· The right to refuse unsafe work
· Strategies for consultation with workers and employers
· How to draft and present safety recommendations
